Business Intelligence (BI) does not apply to a single methodology or a technology. It ‘much more. It is put together a multitude of data harmonized into a common context. Through the BI not only becomes possible to examine the data, but also understand them, interpret them and finally understand evolution will them have. Through the adoption of BI, a company recognizes the limit that is obtained by reading a report data only. Numbers not say much more than they are expressly designed for. Yet, a full and significant report (the individual numbers do not make much sense), must be able to provide the readerĀ with much more data, much more information, a report should be able to communicate. In the same time, the information is useful and productive if it is immediate, clear and verifiable. In this first post about Business Intelligence, and those that follow on mediamixlab.com, of course we mean business realities that have rules, objectives and requirements, typical of this context.
The Microsoft Sharepoint Foundation 2010(*) home page. This is one of the most complete business intelligence software on BI.
The risk of underestimating the BI is to have a great potential that will never be realized. For example, the procurement of goods in stock to sell and distribute must not be left to chance. The company must have a precise method to retrieve data and information to always have the complete picture so that employees can always act in time to understand what you must do.
Today, there are many software that can manage a good campaign business intelligence. In this guide, we will make several references to the main actors in this environment: SharePoint Server and ProClarity. Through this software you can store the data and then load them for quick reference. All data can be viewed and organized in tables, charts, scorecards, decomposition trees, performance maps, planning, budgeting and forecasting, and so on. Obvious is simply an orderly gathering data for the store: first, historical data is easily accessible and can be examined to understand economic developments and achievements of the past, and secondly, the study of past budgets, it can be useful to make predictions for the future. We add, moreover, the ability to monitor in real time, all stock movements and the consequences that these actions can generate. But what are the necessary steps to organize a good year for business intelligence that can better manage the business (not just the stock) of our company?
ProClarity lets you manage large amounts of information in formats easy to use and to customize according to specific needs. With this solution, you can quickly switch from an efficient data collection to sophisticated decision-making
We will have identified someone:
- Understanding the nature of the business you want to take
- Identify the nature of the data and from where they can be found
- Transform this raw material into useful information
- Sharing this information in a centralized structure
In this brief presentation, we omit the first point (depends only on your choice), to go directly to the most important phase, the building data warehouse process and its infrastructure. In order to better understand these stages, watch the schematic drawing below.
As discussed in this post, the benefits of business intelligence are many and are a great value for companies that decide to adopting the rules. However, it is important to identify the different departments of the company that can benefit from business intelligence. All these areas, each with its own team, and each with its own objectives, require different forms of data and information that consume differently. Therefore, there are a variety of tools that provide data reports that are part of the data warehouse. With proper application of appropriate tools for different organizational roles, the benefits of a business intelligence solution can be implemented throughout the organization at a profit. The creation of an application of business intelligence is not a simple process. An organization must decide what it wants to solve business problems and then solve these problems. In part two of this tutorial we will focus more on the various components of the functions of the last public figure and give more space to new products from Microsoft, PerformancePoint Server, which brings together a number of tools and provides the tools for scorecards, analysis and schedule.
